Educational services, participatory planning and visioning, policy assistance (all services on-site). LGC’s membership is comprised of employees and elected officials of communities across the country. The organization focuses on improving planning, making communities more livable and prosperous, and improving resource efficiency.
Relevant Project(s)
- Center for Livable Communities— a national initiative, the Center works with top planners and architects across the country to develop principles and resources on resource-efficient local growth and development. The Center provides assistance to communities on pro-active planning projects.
- Energy Information Clearinghouse—focused on California, the Clearinghouse publishes a newsletter and provides community leaders with information on the latest energy-related trends and techniques, conferences, and other resources.
Relevant Methodologies
Design charettes, Community Image Survey, study sessions for local officials, staff training, presentations and conference planning services (on housing, zoning for smart growth, livable communities, street design and air quality, growth management, transit-oriented development, walkable communities, energy conservation, renewable energy generation), tours of ‘livable communities.’
